Configure recording devices in Windows 10

4/8/2015

Such infrequently used audio inputs as WaveOutMix, CD Audio, StereoMix, etc are turned off in Windows 10 by default. If your soundcard driver software supports those inputs, then you can turn them on.

Install the latest version of your soundcard driver software (released by the device manufacturer, not from the Microsoft driver base).

Right-click on the Speakers icon on the system tray of the taskbar and select the Recording devices option in the context menu.

Recording devices

Right-click on the white field in the opened window and select the following options:

  • Show Disabled Devices
  • Show Disconnected Devices

Show Disabled and Disconnected Devices

Right-click on disabled audio hardware in the device list and select Enable.

Enable device

Click on OK when you're done.
