Turn Windows Firewall on or off in Windows 10

When Windows Firewall is configured properly it can protect your computer from different network threats. Furthermore, using Windows Firewall you can adjust how the installed applications can use network connections and even block some programs from accessing network. But if you have installed a third-party firewall software, such as Vista Firewall, then it is recommended to disable Windows Firewall to avoid possible software conflicts.
Turn Windows Firewall off
2. Click Windows Firewall.
3. In the left menu click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
4. For an each type of network location select the option that says Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) and click OK.
Now when Windows Firewall is turned off you may need to stop and disable its service.
5. Open Services.
6. In the list of services find Windows Firewall and double-click it.
7. In the opened properties window on the General tab click on the Stop button, and then select Disabled from the Startup type drop-down menu.
8. Click OK.
9. Open MSConfig.
10. On the Services tab find Windows Firewall, uncheck it if it is checked and click OK. If you don't do that, then Windows Firewall service will start up every time when Windows is starting up.
11. If you're prompted to restart the computer, click Exit without restart.
Turn Windows Firewall on
1. Open Services.
2. Find the Windows Firewall service and double-click it.
3. From the Startup type drop-down menu select Automatic.
4. Click Apply.
5. Click on the Start button.
6. Click OK and close Services.
7. Open MSconfig and make sure the Windows Firewall service is checked.
9. Click Windows Firewall.
10. In the left menu click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
11. For an each network location type select Turn on Windows Firewall and check Notify me when Windows Firewall blocks a new program.
12. Click OK.
